Fact: My father is awesome and I love him like crazy.
Fact: He makes me laugh and he's a wonderful teacher. I've learnt so much from him. He's patient and kind and amazing, and he's an excellent cook and the best Daddy I could imagine.
Further Fact: This picture looks almost nothing like him, but OH WELL, I tried.
This being Fathers' Day, I wanted to say how much I love him.
A very short story: When I was little, I had a blue plastic ball covered in alphabet letters in white - my Alphabet Ball. We were at the beach, and it went into the water, further out than I could go, since I couldn't swim and actually I still can't and it was way too deep for me. I was certain the ball was lost forever.
But Dad went in and saved it for me.
A while later, I was on some website for little kids, and there was a thing about heroes, and a place to draw a picture of your hero. I drew Daddy, because he had saved my alphabet ball.
My Daddy is still one of my heroes, and not just because he saved my alphabet ball. He's one of the most amazing people I know.
I love you, Daddy. Thank you for everything.

[A Brief Note On Apostrophe Usage]
Like Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day is typically spelt with the apostrophe before the S: Father's Day. I've always had a problem with this spelling; this day does not belong to only my father, much as he might deserve it. Rather, it's a day for all fathers the world over. Therefore, I place the apostrophe after the S.
You are free to do as you see fit.

This is cute! :D
ReplyDeleteThe picture doesn't look like my dad either, but I'm sure it looks like someone's dad, so it's all good.
Thanks - and yeah, I'm sure somewhere out there there's a dad who looks just. like. this.
ReplyDeleteActually, that kind of looks like my dad ... LOL just kidding. But he actually looks just like my friend's dad.
